Letterlijk betekent oecumene ' heel de wereld betreffend'. Oecumene is een beweging, die streeft naar toenadering tussen de verschillende geloofsrichtingen op zoek naar wat hen bindt en niet naar wat hen scheidt.

At this site you will find information about the Oecumenical Base Community, formerly called 'Citykerk'.
In the early seventies some people in Maastricht tried to find their own way of believing without the strict rules from the existing Roman Catholic church. Therefore they established this group.
The oecumenical movement aspires towards unity of people independent of their religion, focussing on the similarities rather than the differences.
